Speak to Lead '18, the series of debates organized by the ELTU of the Faculty of Management was successfully held on 9th November 2018 at the Faculty Auditorium. The speakers for the day were selected from the initial rounds of this series which were held at class level and the final and semi-final rounds held on the day of the event. Mr. N. Agilan (Senior Lecturer, Department of Human Resource Management) was the Chief Guest of the event whereas Ms. Muditha Dharmasiri (Lecturer, Department of Classical Languages) graced the occasion as a Guest Judge for the event.
The purpose behind this event was to help the students to overcome their inhibitions in relation to using English while developing their confidence and critical thinking skills. Aligning with the initial objectives of the Faculty to produce well-balanced, informed individuals, Speak to Lead '18 was designed to develop the students' effective speech composition and delivery, analytical, research and note taking skills.
The championship of Speak to Lead '18 was achieved by the team led by S. Perera. The team members were M. Dhivya, G. Nilusha, A. Amri and G. Samaraweera. The team led by A. Ariyasena became the runners-up and its members were D. Ekanayake, K.Dharmasena, N. Mulupitage and H. Samaranayake. G. Nilusha was awarded the Best Speaker of Speak to Lead '18.
