Graduate Profile

A graduate in Master of Accounting & Finance are equipped and trained to;

  • Demonstrate and critically evaluate Accounting & Finance management concepts, principles, theories, trends and ethics in the field of Accounting & Finance.
  • Synthesize Accounting & Finance management theories and principles in a holistic approach on the eye of a business organization.
  • Demonstrate the application of blending Accounting & Finance management techniques.
Master of Accounting & Finance programme requires students to earn a total of 50 credits in four semesters as shown by below table.

  1. A Bachelor’s Honours degree with a Class/CGPA above 3.00 obtained from any recognized university in Sri Lanka or elsewhere; OR
  2. A Bachelor’s Honours degree obtained from any recognized university in Sri Lanka or elsewhere with one (01) year post-qualifying experience in an executive capacity;OR
  3. A Bachelor’s degree obtained from a recognized university in Sri Lanka or elsewhere or an equivalent qualification with two (02) years’ post-qualifying experience in an executive capacity;OR
  4. A recognized professional qualification with two (02) years’ post-qualifying experience in an executive capacity;OR
  5. Such other educational and/or professional qualification and work experience obtained from a recognized institution acceptable to the Faculty Higher Degrees Committee.

Attorney–at–Law; Member/Passed finalist of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK, Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the Institute of Personal Management (IPM), the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) UK, the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Sri Lanka, the Chartered Institute of Engineers (CIE) UK/Sri Lanka, and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

The candidates who successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting & Finance programme of the Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya is eligible to enroll in the MBA in Accounting & Finance programme via transferring credits earned at the Postgraduate Diploma level immediately after completion of that level. When a candidate registers for the MBA in Accounting & Finance programme through transfer of credits earned at the Postgraduate Diploma level, he/she shall be deprived of the rights to claim the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting & Finance qualification. In addition, lateral entry is available for those who have graduated with a postgraduate diploma in the relevant field through the credit transfer facility.
