The Department of Management Studies organized a guest lecture on Human Development as part of the course MGS 1201 - Fundamentals of Social Sciences. The lecture took place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 8:00 am in the Faculty Auditorium. Dr. J.K. Dissanayake, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, was the resource person for this session.
The event began with a focus on how human development bridges the fields of biology, psychology, and social science. Using various multimedia presentations, Dr. Dissanayake highlighted key concepts such as the stages of human development and the practical applications of these insights in the workplace. The session emphasized the importance of understanding these developmental stages, especially in the context of management studies, as this knowledge is essential for effectively managing people, organizations, and societal structures.
The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and engage in discussions. Ms. Sherine Shiromy, one of the lecturers in charge of the course, presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Dissanayake for her contribution. The session lasted until around 10:00 am.
