The Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya, successfully organized an industry visit to Cargills Diaries (Pvt) Ltd, Banduragoda and Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake on 12th September 2025 for students of the Faculty of Management. The visit was planned to provide students with practical exposure to both production and service operations, complementing their classroom learning and enhancing their understanding of real-world business processes.
At Cargills Diaries, students were provided with an in-depth overview of the strategic approaches followed by the company, together with a holistic view of the production process and quality control operations at the plant. The learning experience went beyond production, allowing students to observe the entire workflow from raw materials to final products, giving them a comprehensive understanding of operational management in a manufacturing environment.
At Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, students were given real-time exposure to the entire operational process managed by Airport Aviation Authority Pvt Ltd. They observed service operations from arrival and check-in to departure, gaining insights into logistics, passenger management, and operational coordination. Further, students had the opportunity to witness take-offs and landings and to understand how catering, maintenance, security, quality control, and all other operational activities are coordinated to ensure smooth functioning of airport services
