Sinhala & Tamil New Year Festival: A Celebration of Culture and Project Management
The Department of Operations Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya, proudly hosted the Sinhala & Tamil New Year Festival- ස්වර්ණ වසන්තය 2026, a vibrant cultural event organized by second-year undergraduates enrolled in OPM 2202: Project Management. The festival was held on March 27th, 2026, throughout the day within the Faculty premises.
The primary objective of this full-day event was to provide students with hands-on, practical experience in managing a complex project from conception to execution. This initiative allows students to move beyond theoretical concepts and apply them to a real-world scenario. The day was filled with high levels of student engagement through a diverse array of traditional Avurudu games. Student interaction was at the heart of the event, with participants competing in team-based activities and enjoying cultural performances coordinated by their peers. The event was a testament to the students' ability to coordinate under pressure, manage resources, and create a joyful and memorable experience for the participants, including students, faculty, and staff.
The Department extends its sincere appreciation to all the students of the OPM 2202 course for their exceptional teamwork, dedication, and creativity, which were instrumental in making the Sinhala & Tamil New Year Festival 2026 a resounding success.
