Lean Enterprise Day 2025
The Department of Operations Management successfully conducted Lean Enterprise Day 2025 for second-year undergraduates following OPM 2203 – Lean Manufacturing. The event was organized by the second-year undergraduate students under the guidance of the Department, with the objective of strengthening students’ understanding of Lean principles and enhancing their practical exposure to real-world Lean applications.
The event featured a special industry guest session delivered by Mr. Kalinda Dasanayaka, General Manager – Quality and Technology, INSEE Cement. His session on Lean implementation highlighted practical approaches to waste reduction, continuous improvement, and value creation within industrial operations. The discussion effectively bridged theoretical knowledge with real-world industry experience, providing students with valuable professional insights. An engaging Short Video Competition was also conducted, enabling students to creatively present Lean concepts such as 08 wastes, 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing the winning teams.
Overall, Lean Enterprise Day 2025 served as an important platform for students to deepen their knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, enhance teamwork and creativity, and develop professional competencies aligned with modern operational practices.
