The Accounting & Finance Students’ Society launched its annual CRS project intending to give something back to society. Society believes it is a responsibility to enhance educational development and facilitate the quality of life of the community because the general public funds the higher education sector.
This project focuses on A/L students as the Advanced Level examination is a critical turning point for any school student. How they face the examination has no doubt an impact on their future. Thus, this CSR project intends to assist them in doing their best in the Advanced Level examination.
With that, the Accounting & Finance Students’ Society of the Department of Business Finance, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya, conducted the seminar on Accounting. Also, it provided them with useful insights on career prospects in Commerce stream to Matale district G.C.E. (A/L) students. The project was held on 9th December 2022 at Kaikawala Central Collage with the participation of A/L students of Kaikawala Central College, Rattota Sri Parakrama Maha Vidyalaya and Weragama Siri Seewali Vidyalaya.
Dr. Sujeewa Kodithuwakku, Head of the Department of Business Finance, conducted a truthful session regarding the Accounting paper structure and the common mistakes students make in writing accounting papers. The Vice-President of the society conducted a presentation regarding the degree programs offered by the State Universities in Sri Lanka for Commerce stream students. Mr. Uvin Ariyarathne, the Senior Treasurer of the Accounting & Finance Students’ Society and also one of the lecturers of the Department, conducted a career guidance session. The society also gifted stationery items to 25 needy students of the schools from the funds that the Department undergraduates raised by winning several competitions previously.
