Inaugural Installation of Speakers Hub

Inaugural Installation of Speakers Hub organized by the Department of Human Resource Management was held on the 10^th September, 2021 from 6.00 pm onwards via the Zoom platform. The purpose of installing the Speakers Hub at the Faculty is to provide a platform for the students to develop competencies in public speaking which will be a critical soft skill for a future manager. The event was graced by Prof. Athula Ekanayake, Dean Faculty of Management, evaluators of the Speakers Hub and all the academic staff members of the Department of Human Resource Management. The invited speakers for the session were Dr. B.A.N. Eranda, Head, Department of Marketing Management and Mr. Ruwantha Katugaha, Toastmaster, Kandy Toast Master Club.

Signing of the MoU between the University of Peradeniya and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Peradeniya and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC was held on the 12^th of January 2024 at the Senate Room of the University of Peradeniya. Prof. W. M. T. Madhujith, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya and Dr. Roshan Rajadurai – Managing Director, Kelani Valley Plantations PLC signed the MoU on behalf of the respective institutions.

Aberdeen Inspirations - Leadership Camp 2023

The Department of Human Resource Management in collaboration with Aberdeen Holdings (Pvt) Ltd organized the “Aberdeen Inspirations – Leadership Camp 2023” on the 21st of November 2023 from 9.30 a.m. onwards at the Faculty Auditorium. The event was organized parallel to the course HRM 3201: Organizational Leadership offered for the 3000 level undergraduates of the faculty with the aim of developing the leadership skills of our undergraduates.

Field Visit to Noritake Lanka Porcelain (Pvt) Ltd

The 4000 level BBA Undergraduates of the Department of Human Resource Management visited Noritake Lanka Porcelain (Pvt) Ltd, Matale on the 27th of May 2023. The Department of Human Resource Management organized the visit for the undergraduates who follow the course ‘HRM 4201: Contemporary Human Resource Management’conducted by the Lecturer-in-Charge Prof. WPR. Wickramaratne.

Annual General Meeting Society of Human Resource Management (HRM Guild) 2022

The orientation programme of the Department of Human Resource Management, ‘HR JumpStart 2023’ was successfully conducted by the Society of Human Resource Management (HR Guild) on the 8th of May 2023 at the Faculty of Management premises. The purpose of this programme was to welcome the newly joined members to the HR family and to get to know the senior colleagues and the staff members of the department. The students and the staff members engaged in various exciting games and activities as a part of building strong relationships.

Annual General Meeting Society of Human Resource Management (HRM Guild) 2022

The Annual General Meeting of the Society of Human Resource Management (HRM Guild), Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya was held on the 29th of December 2022 at 6.30 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting was held under the patronage of Mrs. Waruni Edirisooriya, the Head of the Department of Human Resource Management. Mr. Dinusha Bagya, the outgoing President hosted the annual general meeting. As the main agenda of the meeting, the new executive committee for the year 2023 were appointed at the meeting.

A guest lecture titled "Best Practices in Negotiation" was conducted by Mr. Ashan Ransilige, Vice President Head of Human Resources, Retail Sector, John Keells Holdings PLC on 28 December, 2022 for the 2^nd year BBA HRM undergraduates under the course HRM 2201: Negotiation and Human Resource Management.

Leadership Forum ‘Facing the Future Together’ - 2022

Leadership Forum 2022 under the theme of ‘Facing the Future Together’ was successfully organized by the 3000 Level undergraduates of the Faculty of Management in collaboration with the Department of Human Resource Management on the 20 th of December 2022 from 9.30 a.m. onwards at the Faculty Auditorium.

Psychology Day 2022

The“Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management successfully conducted Psychology Day for the fourth consecutive time on 15^th December 2022. This is an annual event organized by the third-year HRM undergraduates as a part of the Industrial Psychology course offered by the department.Psychology Day is based on a significant and timely theme every year, and this year"s programme was lined up with the overarching theme of "Enriching the Quality of Life through Healthy Relationships".

Field Visit to IFS R&D International (PVT) Ltd.

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya in collaboration with IFS R&D International (Pvt) Ltd, organized a “Field Visit” for the third-year BBA undergraduates who follow the course HRM 3205; Human Resource Information Systems on the 10th of November 2022 at IFS R&D International (PVT) Ltd, Orion City, Colombo. The fundamental purpose of this visit was to give an overview about the industrial use of Human Resource Information Systems and the use of HR analytical tools in the ICT Industry.

JAT Shuttle - University Undergraduate Skill Development Program

JAT Holdings PLC, one of the leading conglomerates in Sri Lanka conducted "JAT Shuttle - University Undergraduate Skill Development Program" on the 05^th of December 2022 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya. This was a triparty arrangement through which JAT Holdings PLC collaborated with the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya and the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management Studies, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.

Workshop on "Developing HR Undergraduates with IT Professionals"

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management conducted a workshop titled "Developing HR Undergraduates with IT Professionals" for 2000 & 3000 level undergraduates specializing in Human Resource Management on the 25 th of November 2022 at the Faculty Auditorium. The aim of this workshop was to conduct mock interviews, synergy building activities and sessions about the Industry Expectations from HR Graduates and Human Values for the new World of Work. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Pubudu Liyanage, Human Resources Consultant, Zone24x7 (Pvt) Ltd and Mr. Kasun Ariyadasa, Director Software Engineering, IFS R&D International (Pvt) Ltd.

MoU Between University of Peradeniya and Association of Human Resource Professionals

The ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Peradeniya and the Association of Human Resource Professionals (AHRP) took place on 14th September 2022 in the Senate Room of the University of Peradeniya. Representing the two institutions, this MoU has been signed by Professor M.D. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, and Mr. Roshan Kulasuriya, President, AHRP, and Director, HR and Business Integration at Singer Sri Lanka.

Awareness Session on the AHRP Undergraduate Capability Development Program

An awareness session on the AHRP undergraduate capability development program was held on 14 th September 2022 at the Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya. The session was conducted by Mr. Roshan Kulasuriya, President, AHRP and Director, HR and Business Integration at Singer Sri Lanka, and Dr. Chandana Wijayanama, Executive Vice President, AHRP and Organization and HR Director, Siam City Cement Ltd. This programme is designed to provide mentoring support to undergraduates that aspire to pursue a career in HR. Moreover, this program will enable the undergraduates to gain an understanding of their strengths, build confidence, enhance skills, and map their development journey.

MAS Seasonal Internship Programme 2022

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya in collaboration with MAS Linea Intimates, Pallekele called applications for the “MAS Seasonal Internship Programme 2022”. As the initial step, to select the most suitable candidates for the programme, the MAS Linea Intimates team has conducted an “Assessment Center” on the 02 nd of September from 8.30 am. to 4.30 pm at the faculty premises.

OB Week - 2022

“OB Week 2022” is a student-driven activity based assignment spearheaded by the Department of Human Resource Management which was held from 21 st July 2022 to 31 st July 2022 aligned with the course “HRM 2101 – Organizational Behaviour” for the 2 nd Year undergraduates of the Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya. Students allocated to 22 groups, organized many activities varying from webinars by guests, interactive games in the faculty premises, showcasing short films, workshops, film reviews, and quiz competitions.

The student publication of the HRM Guild (The Society of Human Resource Management); ‘e-HR insight’ was released on 7th June 2022 in the presence of Prof. Athula Ekanayake (Dean, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya), Mr. Saman Rupasinghe (Deputy General Manager of Human Resources, MAS Intimates), Ms. Waruni Edirisooriya (Head, Department of Human Resource Management), Heads of other Departments, Academic Staff Members of the Department of Human Resource Management, Mr. Dinusha Bhagya (President, HRM Guild) and all the members of the HRM Guild.

Staff Industry Exposure Program -2022

The inaugural ceremony of the “Staff Industry Exposure Program” of the Department of Human Resource Management was successfully held on 7 th June 2022 at the Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya in the presence of Prof. Athula Ekanayake (Dean, Faculty of Management), Mr. Saman Rupasinghe (Deputy General Manager of Human Resources, MAS Holdings), Ms. Waruni Edirisooriya (Head, Department of Human Resource Management), Heads of other Departments, Academic Staff Members of the Department of Human Resource Management, and Representatives from MAS Intimates, Pallakelle.

HR Camp 2022

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya in collaboration with Sampath Bank PLC organized an “HR Camp” for second-year BBA undergraduates who follow the HRM 2102: Employee Resourcing course under the supervision of Dr. Lalith Weragoda, Group Chief Human Resource Officer, Sampath Bank PLC on 25 th of May 2022 at Sampath Bank Head Office. Department Virtual Orientation Programme

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, the University of Peradeniya in collaboration with the Society of Human Resource Management (HRM Guild) successfully conducted the virtual orientation program on 29th March 2022 for the second-year HRM undergraduates who recently joined the Department. This orientation program has traditionally been an in-person engagement. However, due to the COVID – 19 pandemic, it was conducted via zoom. As a Department, we thoroughly believe that interaction and networking is an opportunity to make a positive impact on other people’s lives. In fact, the purpose of this program was to make our newly joined undergraduates feel welcomed, appreciated, and comfortable from day one. We as a Department would like to congratulate all the second-year HRM undergraduates on being selected to the HR Department and we look forward to working together with them.

Initially, the meeting was conducted by the outgoing President Mr. Randika Nanayakkara, and the outgoing Secretary Ms. Dhananji Shehara. This meeting was primarily held to appoint the new office bearers for the year 2022.

The second webinar of the webinar series organized for the level 100 undergraduates was virtually held on February 18, 2021 on the title of Career Planning of Management Undergraduates. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Kushan Amarasinghe – Head of Manufacturing, Coca Cola – Sri Lanka.

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management organized a workshop on CV Writing and Facing Interviews for BBA Final Year Undergraduates who are following HRM 401: Personality and Skills Development. Fonterra Brands Lanka served as facilitator for this workshop and the event was held on 05th of April, 2019 at Faculty Auditorium.

A Workshop on Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management organized a three days workshop on Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) for BBA Third Year Undergraduates who are specialized in Human Resource Management from 6th December to 8th December, 2018 at the Faculty IT lab. The aim of this workshop was to provide theoretical and practical exposure in the area of Human Resource Information System. Mr. Sampath Jayasundara, the Chief Executive Officer - hSenid Business Solutions, Mr. Mahinda Pathirana, Manager, Professional Services and Global Support Team, and Mr. Pubudu Dissanayake, Manager, Delivery at hSenid are served as resource personnel.

MAS Seasonal Internship Award Ceremony -2018

MAS Seasonal Internship programme is a collaborative effort between Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya and MAS Linea Intimates, Pallekele. MAS Seasonal Internship Programme is a form of an on-site learning experience that integrates classroom learning, theories, and experiences in to professional setting. The MAS Seasonal Internship Award Ceremony -2018 was held on 5th November, 2018 at the Faculty Auditorium for the second time.
