We always ensure that our degree program is innovative and respond continuously to the ever-changing needs of the corporate sector, and strive to provide a top-notch learning experience and stimulating educational experience for our students. Apart from the BBA degree programme, the department is a significant contributor for the B.Com degree programme, BSc in Computation and Management degree programme and BBA (Online) degree programme offered with collaboration of Arts faculty, Science Faculty and Centre for Distance and Continuing Education respectively.
The Annual University Talent Show organized by the Marketing Management Student Society in collaboration with the Department of Marketing Management is scheduled to be held on September 18, 2022, at the Faculty of Management Premises. The Morning session is scheduled for the Dancing, Drama, and Stand-up Comedy segments, and the Evening session is scheduled for the Singing, Instrumental playing, and Painting segments. Talento’22 is an annual talent show organized by the Marketing Management Students’ Society in collaboration with the Department of Marketing Management for the second consecutive time with the purpose of providing undergraduates with a stage for creativity. This year the event has expanded to an interfaculty competition where all 18, 19 and 20 batch undergraduates from nine faculties can participate in this competition. Mainly the competitions will be held in singing, dancing, painting, drama, instrument playing, video content creation, magic and stand-up comedy. After conducting two auditions, the finalists will be selected by an expert panel of judges, and the winners will be rewarded at the Grand Finale. ‘Talento’ is a competition which was organized by the Department of Marketing Management for the first time in its history. The purpose of ‘Talento’ is to create a platform for the young, talented undergraduates in the Faculty of Management. After two competitive auditions, fifteen items got selected to be performed in the Grand Finale with more than twenty participants. The day of making the dream into a reality was on April 09, 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of the Management. An unbiased and transparent judgment was made at the end by the respectable panel of judges namely Dr. R.H. Kuruppuge, Senior Lecturer, Department of Operations Management, Faculty of Management; Mrs. A.V.K. Madhavie Herath, Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics and Statistics, Faculty of Arts and Ms. M. Chandrasena, Lecturer, Department of Fines Arts, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. Winners of this remarkable event were Mr. S. Niroshan and his team for the musical act (First place), Mr. Sathir for his dancing item (Second place) and Ms. Kaumadi Karunanayake for the singing item (Third place).26-03-2019
The Department of Marketing Management has organized a workshop on ‘Creative Thinking’, which was held on April 02, 2019 at the University Gymnasium. The resource person for this workshop was Mr. Thumindu Dodanthenna, who is a Lecturer at the Department of Performing Arts at Sripalee Campus, University of Colombo. He is a screenwriter, and a well-known actor in theatre, cinema & television. The purpose of this workshop was to provide students hands on experience in developing their soft skills that are necessary for the modern world of work. More than 50 BBA undergraduates were participated for this workshop representing all the five Departments in the Faculty of Management.02-04-2019
The third year and fourth year undergraduates and the academic staff of the Department of Marketing Management, University of Peradeniya went on a field visit to ‘Sri Lankan Airlines’ on March 27, 2019. This visit aimed at acquiring a practical understanding on the application of theoretical aspects of the organization. During this field visit, students were given the opportunity to access all the divisions of the Bandaranaike International Airport. The students were able to gain thorough knowledge about the marketing practices of Sri Lankan Airlines specifically focusing on services marketing. Moreover, students were able to visit the flight stimulator which was an amazing experience for them.26-03-2019
Department of Marketing Management has organized a workshop on ‘Creativity and Relevance in Advertising’ on 05th December 2018. The resource personnel for this workshop were a team of two members headed by Mr. Aman Ashraff, Executive Creative Director of Ashraff Associates. The purpose of organizing this workshop was to inculcate and enhance the creativity and entertainment skills of the students to think out of the box in the dynamic world of work. Third year students who are specializing in Marketing Management and some students from the second year were participated in the session.05-12-2018
Third year undergraduates and the academic staff of the Department of Marketing Management, University of Peradeniya went on a field visit to “Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd” on 02nd November 2018. The purpose of this industrial visit was to provide students the opportunity to learn the practical aspect of the theories learnt in lectures. During this field visit, students were given the opportunity to visit both powder plant and the liquid plant and participated for three fruitful sessions on company profile, the entire operation of both the plants and marketing program of the company highlighting on promotional tools.02-11-2018
The third session of the Sales Management seminar series organized by the Department of Marketing Management of the Faculty of Management was successfully conducted on 9th October 2018 at the Faculty auditorium on “"How to Begin a Successful Sales Career?". The session was conducted by Mr. D.H.N.Wijerathna, Junior Executive, Lube sales, Lanka IOC PLC, with the participation of students who are specializing in Marketing Management and some of the second year students. The guest speaker emphasized on the importance of identifying the right job to suit to one’s personal traits with his own experiences and finally discussed about the industry expectations from a candidate applying for a sales job followed by a Q & A session.09-10-2018
