The Department of Operations Management launched their maiden issue of “The Operations
Management Student” the bi-annual students’ e-magazine on the 21 st of December, 2022 at
the Faculty Auditorium in front of staff and students of the Faculty of Management. The
event was graced by Prof. Athula Ekanayake, Dean, Faculty of Management as the chief
guest, followed by all Heads of Departments. Ms. Dinesha Dilrukshi, the Editor-in-Chief and
Ms. Reema Zulfiqar, Graphic and Layout Designer of “The Operations Management
Student” officially launched the E-Magazine in the presence of Prof Athula Ekanayake,
Dean, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya and Prof. Ravi Kuruppuge, Head,
Department of Operations Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya.
A special note of thanks goes to Dr. Nuresh Eranda, Senior Lecturer, Department of
Marketing Management for delivering a preface to the students’ magazine. In his speech, a
clear and concise detail was provided which even revealed opportunities for the students to
come up with an improved version in the next issue. Also, Prof. Asela Kulatunga, Head,
Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University
of Peradeniya contributed for the Opinion Page with his vast knowledge on the area. All in
all, ‘The Operations Management Student’ Volume I was a collective effort of the Editorial
Board, Volunteer Student Organizing Team, academic staff members of the Department of
Operations Management and all other academic and non-academic staff members of the
Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya.
