Voice of Speech '18, the first year students' speech competition, organized by the ELTU of the Faculty of Management was held successfully on 13th June 2018 in the Faculty Auditorium. Dr. M. Alfred, Dean of the Faculty of Management graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whereas Ms. M. Ranasinghe (Senior Lecturer, Department of Management Studies), Mr. N. Agilan (Chairman, ELTC, Faculty of Management & Senior Lecturer, Department of Human Resource Management), Ms. H. Wijethunga (Head of the Department, Department of Marketing Management) and Ms. T. Karunaratne (Coordinator, ELTU, Faculty of Management) acted as the panel of judges.
Voice of Speech '18 was designed to create a platform for the first year students to showcase their talents expelling the inhibitions in relation to speech and public performance. As future professionals who will be working in the field of management, improving and mastering their communication skills, especially speech, is important. In the competitive and academic oriented environment of the university, students required to be in touch with elements such as literature and art which are essential for the sustenance of a healthy human mind. Thus, Voice of Speech '18 was an opportunity for the students to see themselves empowered with such capabilities.
After witnessing a tight competition of skillful deliveries of speeches, the judges awarded Agresha Kulathunga as the Best Speaker of Voice of Speech '18. N.M. Arshad and Isuri Samarajeewa won the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
