“Lean Enterprise Day 2022” was organized by the Department of Operations Management in
collaboration with the AHEAD Project of the Department on the 6 th of December 2022 at the
Faculty Premises. The main aim of the event was to disseminate knowledge in the area of Lean
Management for staff and students.
A Guest speech was conducted by Ms. Udeshi Rathnayake, General Manager, Manufacturing
Operations, Linea Clothing, MAS Holdings at the inaugural session which was then carried with
a panel discussion of Alumina member of the Department who are currently excelling in their
knowledge as Lean practitioners. The Panelists of the discussion were Mr. Sasaka
Kodithuwakku, Ms. Yasara Herath, and Ms. Medhagie Galgamuwa. The discussion was
moderated by Dr. S. Maheswaran, Senior Lecturer, Department of Operations Management.
Lean Exhibition was conducted as the second event of the programme. The main aim of the
event was to showcase students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities of the course OPM 2203 -
Lean Manufacturing by conducting an exhibition for the audience. This is a partial fulfilment of
their continuous assessment evaluation of the said course as well.
Students performed their exhibits under the themes of Evolution of Lean Manufacturing
excellence, Seven waste and productivity, Lean tools and performance enhancement, Lean
implementation in the Faculty, Problem-solving using lean techniques.
