The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya, successfully organized a Dining Etiquette Session for 3000-level undergraduates on 05th August 2025 as part of the HRM 3102: Career Management course. While the program was initiated and coordinated by the Department, it was graciously hosted at the Vocational Training Institute of Tourism & Hospitality (VTITH) in Kurunegala, under the purview of the Wayamba Development Authority.
The primary objective of this session was to equip students with the essential behaviours, manners, and customs expected in formal and professional dining settings, enhancing their workplace readiness.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Nalaka Kumara, Director General of the Wayamba Development Authority; Mr. Indika Senevirathne, Deputy Director of the Wayamba Development Authority; and Mr. Pradeep Pilapitiya, Lecturer in Food & Beverage and Food Safety Management at VTITH. Their combined expertise provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure through an interactive session and a live demonstration of professional dining practices.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated team at Vocational Training Institute of Tourism & Hospitality (VTITH) in Kurunegala for their warm hospitality, continuous support, and the insightful sessions conducted during the session. Their contribution ensured that the session not only imparted valuable etiquette skills but also inspired students to carry themselves with professionalism in diverse social and corporate settings.
