The Department of Business Finance has emerged as one of the five Departments in the Faculty of Management focusing on the disciplines of Accounting and Finance. It offers courses for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs to provide students with adequate knowledge and skills in relation to Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Corporate Governance, Auditing, Taxation and Corporate Finance. Over the years, there has been a great demand for the specialization area in Accounting and Finance offered by the Department from the high performing students. In future, the Department aims to capitalize on this competitiveness to produce high quality graduates to meet the demand for accountants and finance managers in the local and the global arena. In doing so, the Department intends to build up strong ties with the professional organizations and the industry. In addition, the Department seeks to develop a strong research culture advancing the current knowledge in Accounting and Finance within the purview of benefiting organizations and societies.
The Department of Business Finance Seminar Series – November 2018 was held on 29 November, 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of the Management. Mr. Shamri Ahafurdeen, Chief Operating Officer at ESOFT Metro Campus was invited at the podium in order to share his corporate experience in the field of employability skills and personal branding which are required to compete in the corporate world. The seminar was successfully held for two hours with an active participation from the participants.29-11-2018

The fourth session of the ‘Accounting & Finance Research Forum – 2018’ will be held at 10.00 a.m. on November 16, 2018 in the Faculty Board Room. Mr. Thusil Weerasekara, a Deputy Bursar attached to the Financial Administration Division of the University of Peradeniya, will make the presentation on the titled, “The Role of Accounting in Governance of State Universities of Sri Lanka”. Mr. Thusil Weerasekara holds a BBA degree from University of Colombo and an MBA degree from University of Peradeniya.16-11-2018
