The Department of Operations Management in collaboration with the Geragama Tea Factory organized a field visit on 23 rd November 2022 for 1 st year undergraduates who follow the course OPM 1202: Operations Management. The main purpose of this visit was to provide the students with a practical exposure on the manufacturing process of a tea processing factory.
The department is extremely grateful to Mr. M. Marasinghe the owner of the factory for hosting our students in person and making the students thoroughly aware of the tea culture, the conversion process and how quality is ensured in each step of the process. Further, the students were taken on a factory tour to explain them on the tea making process which was very informative. Students were witnessed about the progress of the factory and quality standards and practices adopted by them in the tea manufacturing process.
